Costa Rica has a territory of only 19,700 square miles, bordering at north with Nicaragua and at south with Panama, surrounded by both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Although not a wealthy nation in comparison to some other Latin American countries, Costa Rica is well developed.
Roads, electricity and
telephones reach throughout the countryside.
The Costa Rica government has declared National Park or Biological Reserve about the 12% of the territory, making the country one of the best places to experience the tropics naturally and with minimal impact. But Costa Rica is much more than an ecotourism heaven. Not surprisingly for a country which is mostly coastline, Costa Rica has some of the region's best surfing and beaches both on the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. |
